ReSound Sensia

ReSound Sensia is a premium AI hearing aid that automatically focuses on the conversation you are facing, available in receiver-in-ear and custom styles.

ReSound Sensia is a premium hearing aid family that automatically brings forward the conversation you are facing, rather than simply the loudest voice in the room. We fit ReSound Sensia, available in receiver-in-ear and custom styles, at the Center for Healthy Hearing in Manhattan.

Automatic Help When Conversation Gets Hard

Sensia succeeds ReSound Vivia and runs on the same chips and deep neural network (DNN), a form of AI trained to separate speech from noise, but it changes how and when that processing is used. On Vivia, the strongest noise reduction required switching to a separate program, while the premium Sensia 9 recognizes a difficult speech-in-noise setting and activates it on its own within a system ReSound calls Intelligent All-Around. That system combines AcoustIQ sound classification, a four-microphone beam aimed where you are looking, and DNN denoising, all inside a rechargeable microRIE that keeps Vivia's small size.

Key Features of the ReSound Sensia

These are the details that shape how Sensia performs in the places where patients most often struggle to follow conversation.

  • AcoustIQ Sound Sensing: Continuously identifies whether you are in quiet, noise, or speech in noise, then engages the features suited to that setting.
  • Four-Microphone Beamforming: Microphones on both ears form a forward-facing beam, so the person you look at comes through more clearly while lower-pitched surrounding sound keeps you oriented.
  • Two Types of Noise Reduction: DNN denoising handles crowded conversation, while ReSound's Noise Tracker II takes over for steady non-speech noise such as fans or vacuum cleaners.
  • Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast: Streams directly to your hearing aids and receives Auracast broadcasts in equipped theaters and public venues, fully working at launch rather than awaiting a future update.
  • Rechargeable, Weather-Resistant Design: Rated for at least 24 hours per charge (up to about 30 depending on use), with an IP68 rating for protection against moisture and dust.

Choosing the Right Sensia Model

Sensia comes in rechargeable microRIE, standard 312 and 13 receiver-in-ear, and several custom in-ear styles, plus a CROS transmitter for single-sided deafness and a bimodal version that works with Cochlear Nucleus implant processors. Only the Sensia 9 microRIE runs the full automatic system, while Sensia 7 offers DNN processing through a manually selected program and the custom models do not include DNN denoising at launch. Matching the style and technology level to your hearing loss and routine is a large part of what we do at a fitting.

Sensia also has trade-offs worth knowing before you choose it. Its strongest help depends on facing the person you want to hear, it waits roughly a minute to confirm a conversation before stepping up, and it does not switch to music automatically, so concertgoers will rely on a dedicated music program. Dr. Ike Iheagwara begins every fitting with a full hearing evaluation and reviews your audiogram alongside your daily listening demands before recommending a model.
